Credited as Worthy:
Abraham did not put his confidence in anything he did himself, he trusted solely in God. Heavenly
Father repeated again and again his promise to make a great nation of Abraham. If Abraham had to work to be declared
worthy, then his faith would have been of no value and God’s promise would have been worthless. “For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect.”
Romans 4:14 Abraham put his confidence in what God had promised.
The object of Abraham’s
confidence was God’s promised Savior. Jesus Christ, the Savior gives a testimony to Abraham’s faith by saying,
“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.” John 8:56
Abraham believed God and because of this faith he was credited with the worthiness of Jesus
Christ who was perfect in every way.
