The Sin Offering
Heavenly Father instituted a system of sacrificial offerings to give comfort to his people, the Israelites,
so they could focus on His promises of restoration and forgiveness. The sin offering was one such offering involving the sacrifice
of an animal. The sacrificial animal became the substitute for people who had fallen short of perfection. Its death was the only
acceptable way to restore a person’s relationship with God. The blood of the animal would atone or “cover” people’s mistakes, even
those done unintentionally or out of weakness.
