Temple Work of Today
The Fellowship Offering
In the Old Testament, the fellowship offering was a common voluntary expression of thanksgiving to God given by the
Israelite people. An animal was sacrificed at the temple and the remaining meat was shared in a festive meal with family and friends.
The idea of giving thanks to Heavenly Father for all that he had done to provide for salvation is a regular part of a
believer’s life. The Apostle Paul encourages believers in the New Testament that “by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6
“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2
“Giving thanks always for all things unto God, and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20
