Mark 12:29:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with
all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. |
This Bible Gem is known as "The Greatest
Commandment". Notice that in it Heavenly Father conveys
his requirement for much more than allegiance in our outward
actions. He does not want children that follow his
commands out of fear, out of guilt, out of obligation or out of selfish ambition.
He desires something much more profound, much more righteous. His children are to be filled
with love for him. They are to be consumed by this love such
that it occupies every recess of their heart, their mind, and their
soul. Every effort a person makes is to be centered on him.
Every time we break one of God's commands, we
break this command, the greatest commandment, as well. Some
people tend to minimize their sin by confining it to only deliberate
actions. But this is the action of a fool, a person living in
rebellion of Heavenly Father's desire for all-consuming love.
In the long run such people's discounting of their sin will result
in them standing woefully unclean before the Judgment Seat on the
Last Day and they will receive their just reward.
