Have you ever tried to list all of God's
Commands? Certainly this would be a daunting task. Yet
LDS Doctrines states that Eternal Life is predicated, in part, upon
obedience to all of God's Commands.
D&C 14:7 states: If you keep my
commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life,
which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.
Every time we fail to keep one of God's
Commands we commit a sin against Heavenly Father. According
to the LDS definition of Repentance, before a person can be
forgiven of such a sin he or she must recognize the sin, feel sorrow
for the sin, forsake the sin, confess the sin, make restitution,
forgive others, and keep God's Commands. (See Gospel
Principles pages 124 - 125 and also
True to the Faith pages 132 - 135). Before a person can begin on this
path of repentance it is necessary to know what God's Commands are. This
Drawer of Bible Gems gives a small sampling of commands.
As you examine each of these Bible Gems you
may find that you gain insight into the prospect of forsaking
each sin. After all the gems are presented you will be given the
opportunity to explore the principle of:
All mankind may be saved, by
obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
