Why We Forgive

In this journal entry I detail my struggle to forgive my abuser.  At one point in my life that was an impossibility.  If I had not been transformed it would have remained impossible.  But then I learned that the power to forgive does not lie within oneself.

The sacrificial Perfect Lamb would take my incurable illness upon himself and give his life as my substitute to atone for my sins.

This is a story of how I was able to tap into the real source of the power that drives forgiving others.  Then everything in my life changed.

In my journal entry “My Lost Innocence” I write of the tragic events that left me violated and my husband dead.  These events and my choices left me irreparably shamed, unclean and guilty.  But then the Prophet Nathan came and told me of the Great Physician who was to come.  He would take my incurable illness upon himself and sacrifice his life as my substitute.  He would fulfill once for all the roles of Atonement; the sacrificial perfect lamb and the scapegoat.  By my faith in his future atonement for my sins I was healed.
